The book tells the story of a decade that embraces the ennui of being broke and homeless in Los Angeles, jetting in and out of clinics and treatment centres, shelters, and AA meetings. This ‘Outsider’ is at odds with dealers, doctors with agendas, priests handing out redemption, creepy casting directors, and teachers with lessons too hard to learn. We encounter children at the door wanting only candy, getting more than they bargained for, enfeebled and enraged landlords, girlfriends turned escorts, rabbits that rescue and cats that speak up in their own defence. This novel may be the first example of a magical realism rooted in North American popular culture, one in the tradition of Kubla Khan.
An addict with a life-saving charm, the protagonist pulls scams, crashes social events, impersonates employees - whatever it takes to impress, to ingratiate and to get the next fix. His refuge is the interior world of drug-induced fantasies poised on the precipice of a fall into real memory and the imminent loss and waste, the spectral accompaniment to the addled life of addiction.
These meditations in the tradition of Coleridge unfold in a theatre of the absurd, forging a kind of William Burroughs situation comedy of club scene kids, driven through the narrator’s world to a place where you wonder if it’s truly happening or is a wished for dream state.
The narrator's voice has a ruthlessly comic sensitivity to the banal, the false and the absurd aligning this work with that of David Foster Wallace, Chuck Palahniuk and David Sedaris. Fantastic and imaginative, the voice is nonetheless mature: unforgiving and mocking of both self and other.

Everything can be found on the Internet. At various sites there's a comprehensive list of all Maryland drug rehab centers along with contact information and short advertising articles. There are lots of various treatment centers in this State, and from their commercials it seems most of them are well-situated and well-equipped. But it's not a rehab center that counts most. It's the choice of therapist. An addict can get into the best Maryland drug rehab center and still had to spend some very hard time if you don't know how to choose the right therapist.

Choosing the therapist

As for the professionalism, there are three things that count most. The first is, of course, some academic degree (MA, MS, MSW, PhD, PsyD, MD etc.). The second is experience - completion of some extensive psychotherapy course is absolutely must. The third might be somewhat hard-to-touch. An addict has to accept him. They can't force themselves into cooperation with somebody they don't accept.

Choosing the right therapist might be difficult. It's not because of them, but because of addicts' psychological problems - when addicts accept the treatment, they sometimes try to force themselves to everything, as if they were punishing themselves for being addicts. It's not a good way - Maryland drug rehab centers employ a lot of good therapist, so the choice shouldn't be so difficult. Just let the addicts follow their gut feelings - people under treatment have to talk over very (and I mean very) personal experiences and sometimes it hard to do, for example if the therapist is a member of the opposite sex or in a wrong age or even when he is too blond.

Why the right therapist is so important?

One can force itself into beginning the therapy, but to endure all the months needed to complete it is another matter entirely. One has to have an anchor that will keep them in the therapy and won't let go. The best anchor possible is the link of friendship between an addict and a therapist. Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps people clean, so no one can underestimate this.

Christian Rehab and Drug Abuse

If an individual who is on drugs does not get the right help, it is going to be a futile attempt at something that is bigger than they are. The ideal method of treating the addiction of drugs is by having the recovering addict undergo Christian rehab in a facility that targets the spiritual, mental and physical aspect of their disease.

A faith based treatment plan is beneficial to the recovering addict in more ways than one. Christian rehab is advantageous to the recovering addict because it helps them to feel as if they can adequately perform well compared to when they were consuming the drugs.

When someone is addicted to drugs, there is an entanglement that only serves to make the person unhappy and want to do more drugs to numb their pain. An extended abuse of drugs results in entire health deterioration and the person's behavior is also affected in an adverse way because they are unable to properly function in their normal and daily routine. The objective of most faith based program is to bring the recovering addict closer to God through their love, compassion, treatment, encouragement, motivation and support.

God is the primary difference between the traditional drug treatment program and the faith based treatment program. In a lot of cases, there is an observation made that point to the fact that most addicts will deny abusing the drugs so that they can keep on doing it. Drug addiction is measured as a complicated brain illness that pertains to the out of control desire to abuse drugs at all cost even when the results are negative to both the individual and his or her family.

Drug addicts oftentimes, develop symptoms of anxiety, depression, and nausea and have the urge to commit suicide. It will let someone go to extremes to the extent where they will steal, kidnap or even kill for it. Drug addiction works havoc on someone's personality. It destroys lives, families and friendships. God's desire is to have everyone on earth live to their full potential and purpose; to be joyful and happy.

If we destroy the temple of God, which is our bodies, we violate the purpose of God and fall prey to what the enemy intends for us; to kill us and destroy us through drug abuse. Only a Christian rehab program has been proven to sever this cycle of destruction.

The popularity of drug addiction has made it very dangerous to the health of the abuser. It is a cycle of defeat if they don't get help from a reputable Christian rehab treatment program. A faith based rehabilitation plan is a highly effective program to treat the disease of addiction. It does not matter which way the drugs goes into the brain and the body; whether through inhaling, injecting, sniffing or putting it into the eyes, the drugs ends up in the brain and provides a few hours of pleasure, which turns out to only being an endangerment to the individual's life and a nuisance as well.
